Matt Furie, the creator of Pepe the Frog, had a pet rat named Fox. Fox inspired the character "Fox" in Furie's 2012 wordless picture book The Night Riders, which features a frog and a rat on a nighttime adventure. Fox's legacy has extended into the digital realm and has pathed a way for success of other rat-themed art, characters and now cryptocurrencies.
